We have several opportunities for you to volunteer from home, in the community, or at the CABVI building. For more information, please complete the application and we will contact you to schedule an interview.
Volunteer From Home
Personalized Talking Print (PTP) - Volunteers read over their touch tone telephone into a voice mail system for our listeners to be able to call and access, 24 hours per day.
Volunteer in your Community
One-on-One - One-on-One volunteers are matched to a blind or visually impaired individual who has requested assistance with tasks such as reading mail, writing checks and grocery shopping. The assignment can be once a week, once a month or short-term with an approximate time commitment of 90 minutes.
Staff Drivers - If you are available one morning or afternoon during the workday, you may be interested in driving staff members who are blind or visually impaired. The staff members travel to client’s homes, office, or school for assessments and training sessions. Volunteer drivers may use their own vehicle or an agency vehicle and must have a good driving record and full insurance coverage. Reimbursement for mileage is provided.
Volunteer in the CABVI Building
Broadcast - Broadcast volunteers come into our studios to read from newspapers and magazines. This is either recorded live, or is recorded.
Behind the Scenes - If you would like to learn the behind the scenes part of radio, consider becoming a board-operator. We’ll train you if you have computer experience and the ability to multi-task.
